Sun Protection Practices for Kids

sun-protection-practices-for-kids

As the days get warmer, more and more children are encouraged to play outdoors. Being parents, you must make sure your children’s skin is well-protected against harmful UV rays that can damage their skin and cause melanoma.

Our Daycare Center in Maryland cares about the wellbeing and health of your child. Thus, we at A To Z Fun Care Preschool & Child Care Center are giving you these sun protection tips to help your children’s skin stay protected while outside.

  • Don’t skimp on sunscreen.
The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends that all kids wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Avoid going out when the sun rays are strongest.
Encourage your little ones to stay in the shade with the sun is at its strongest. This is usually around 10 AM to 4 PM.
  • Keep children hydrated.
Children can be incredibly active, which is why they are prone to experiencing dehydration on sunnier days. Make sure they always have water to drink to avoid this issue.
  • Wear the appropriate clothing.
Children have thinner, more sensitive skin than adults. Which is why they need to wear clothes that offer enough protection for their skin.

These tips may look simple, but they can help protect your little one from harm.

Our Preschool In Potomac Maryland always puts the safety and security of our students at the forefront. We strive to build an environment where they can feel safe and supported to pursue their interests and curiosities.

If you’re currently caring for a toddler, Preschool might be the launching pad he/she needs to reach optimum development.
