Helpful Tips on How to Deal with Picky Eaters

We all want what’s best for our children but there are no perfect parenting tips because each child is different. However, there are general strategies that can help you become good parents for your child.

Because we are a daycare center, we know how hard it can be to feed children who are picky eaters. So, allow us to help you find ways to make your child eat healthy foods. Here are some tips:

  • Limit giving them beverages that are high in calories during snack time. High-calorie drinks can make your child too full to eat when it’s time for meals. You may give milk (24 ounces a day) and juice (4 ounces a day) but avoid sodas completely.
  • Make their mealtimes a fun and exciting experience. Let them prepare their food with you so they can enjoy the process. Allow them to pick vegetables they want to try and turn them into fun shapes and different sizes. Make their food colorful and always offer different varieties.
  • Respect your child’s eating quirks. Everyone can have eating quirks, even adults. They may not want to eat the same food twice in a row or they may not want a certain part of a vegetable. Some may not want to eat the outer part of bread or only want sandwiches cut into triangles.
